Year 6 pupils enjoyed a special French Day on Friday 28th of February, based on a topic called “Monter un café” (Setting up a café).
Pupils used a French supermarket matching activity to learn basic foods and drinks vocabulary. Next various games were played to practice the pronunciation of snacks, main courses, ice creams and drinks, then we moved on to reading a real restaurant menu. We played Food Bingo and then the children designed and produced their own restaurant menus.
In the afternoon, through the medium of song we practised important phrases for ordering from a waiter/waitress . Finally, the pupils prepared and acted out their own café scene in pairs, which proved very entertaining as many chose to have a waiter/waitress who got the food orders mixed up! Tuna ice-cream…non, merci!
