County Tag Rugby Final
On Monday the Y6 tag rugby team took part in the county finals this week after qualifying by winning the previous tournament. The team narrowly lost their first 3 games in the dying seconds. The team were able to win their final 2 games, one of them against the eventual semi-finalists. The team finished 11th in the county overall. A big well done to the team!
High School Musical
On Tuesday Year 5 and 6 had a great morning at Framwellgate School watching their production of High School Musical. The set, costumes, singing and acting were fantastic! Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos. Thank you for inviting us.
Cricket
On Tuesday Year 6 enjoyed their cricket taster session with Alex from Durham Cricket. The children were shown how to bowl the ball with a bounce, hit the ball with the bat and what happens if they ball is caught by a fielder. A great afternoon had by all.

Choir Trip
On Thursday, our school choir visited St Aidens church community hall to spread some Easter joy and perform some easter songs. The choir were fantastic and performed four songs including ‘I’m a spring chicken’, ‘The chocolate song’, ‘The Easter Jubilation’ and ‘Hosanna’! This was a great opportunity for our choir pupils to gain confidence in performing to the wider community. We can’t wait to learn and practice some new songs to perform again in the summer term!
This week in Reception, we have been focusing on People Who Help Us.
To kickstart the topic, we had a special visit from the Fire Service. Four fire fighters brought a fire engine to our school and parked it on the big yard. First, we learnt all about their role in helping people who are in need. We discovered that they don’t just tackle fires, they also rescue cats stuck in trees! We were then shown the firefighters uniform and found out that the firefighters only have one minute to get changed when an emergency call comes through. Miss Garthwaite was put to the test and successfully changed into the uniform with 15 seconds to go – wahoo! We then took our learning outside, exploring the fire engine. We all had the chance to sit inside of the truck before manning the hose and squirting a cone. It was extremely powerful! The firefighters sounded the siren; it was so important that we covered our ears as it was rather loud. They then flashed the lights whilst we posed for a selfie!
We had a fantastic time and learnt so much. Thank you Durham and Darlington crew.

Shan-E-Zahra’s Time to Shine
This week Shan-E-Zahra told us all about Ramadan with the help of an interesting poster she had made herself at home. Finley helped by holding up the poster and Shan-E-Zahra explained exactly what happens during this time. Well done Shan-E-Zahra!
