Another fun and very busy week for FMPS!
On Tuesday the KS1 children took part in a special assembly as part of Safer Internet Day 2024. With the help of the digital leaders the children looked at objects such as telephones, record players and gaming devices and compared them to what the devices look like today. The children were amazed by how much the objects had changed and improved over time. They then thought about what they might look like in the future and whether these changes would be positive or negative. The children explained how they use technology at home and the different strategies they use to stay safe online. The children then continued their discussions with the own teacher back in the classroom. A safe and inspirational time was had by all.
Safer Internet Day 2024 took place on the Tuesday 6th of February 2024, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online’. This year the KS2 assembly focussed on change online, this included: Children’s perspective on new and emerging technology, using the internet to make change for the better, the changes children want to see online and the things that can influence and change the way children think, feel and act online and offline.
Year 3 & 4 History lesson
In a recent history lesson, Tigers enjoyed taking part in a simulation activity to see how important trade was for Ancient Egypt to become powerful and how much it depended on being able to produce grain to feed its people and to export. We quickly learnt how dependent the Egyptians were on the success of the Nile flooding and that some years it was great, but other years it failed them.
Tag Rugby competition!
Our Y6 tag rugby team took part in a competition at Maiden Castle playing against 4 different schools. The team WON 2 games drawing the others which lead to them topping their group and qualifying for the county finals! Well done to the team!

Y3 & 4 Science
Year 3 and 4 had great fun in Science working in pairs to create a magnetic maze game! After designing and sticking down our ‘lolly stick’ maze we used a paper clip and a magnet (underneath the card) to pull the magnetic object from the starting point to the finish line.
After some practise turns we timed each other to see who could move the paper clip, using the magnet, from start to finish the fastest!
