Curriculum Maps for each year group identify the topics taught in each subject over the course of the academic year, and to add detail to this, a termly newsletter is written by each Class Teacher to explain the topic content for each subject and describes how parents can support the topic interests at home.
Please view our Curriculum Content section and click the subject for more information.
Examples of our diverse and creative curriculum can be found on the enrichment and enjoyment section of this website.
The Long Term planning consists of an overview of all topics taught across school from Y1 to Y6. Medium Term Plans are used as a basis to a progressive approach to learning new knowledge. Skills in Geog/History/Science/French/Music/PE/Computing/ Planning are developed year on year and new enrichment opportunities are provided so that children know more and remember more whilst enjoying their learning.
These plans identify intentions for learning, progression of skills and key knowledge to be taught within each subject area. Carefully planned lessons and skilled teaching ensures pupils are motivated and each lesson, or sequence of lessons, begins with a recap of previous learning in order to support pupils in their recall of key skills and knowledge.
Displays remind pupils of learning and are often ‘Working Walls’ or work in progress. In Maths and English there are Learning Walls in each class to support key knowledge and non-negotiables.
Work is differentiated to meet the needs of the pupils and extension activities challenge learners at all levels.
All plans are used as dynamic documents to ensure Assessment for Learning on a continual basis, in addition to subject specific assessment grids and progression documents. Summative tests, along with teacher assessments ensure accurate judgements of the impact of learning and progression.
Coordinators are highly effective in supporting the needs of the teachers and ensuring that the Teaching and Learning is effective and that attainment is high and progression clear across the keystages in their subject from Nursery to Year 6.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Framwellgate Moor Primary School we believe that inclusive education means providing all pupils with appropriate education and support alongside their peers. The Curriculum is all the planned activities that the school organises in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. Further information can be found in the SEN Information Report. If you have any questions about your SEND requirements please contact the school and we will try our best to help you.
Our Curriculum also includes the social aspects imperative for life long learning. The Rights Respecting School Award and Investing In Children Award demonstrates the importance of children having high expectations of behaviour and tolerance towards each other. Framwellgate Moor Primary School was awarded ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted in December 2012. The school continues to maintain high standards believing that education has to continually improve.
Framwellgate Moor Primary School aims to maximise social and academic potential for every pupil on their exciting school journey.
