Charlotte shared her favourite book with us this week. Just One of Those Days by Jill Murphy is a funny story about the Bear family. After a long night the bears wake up late, it's raining outside and Baby Bear is late for Nursery. Charlotte told us about all the events that happen during the Bear family's day. aRIS'S tIME TO SHINE
Shiny Reader
In Ladybirds this week our Shiny Reader presented two books: ‘Gigantosauraus,’ and ‘Wild About Dinosaurs.’ She explained her favourite page of ‘Wild About Dinosaurs’ was one with the T-Rex on because he looks fierce and awesome. In ‘Gigantosaurus,’ she told us about how the main character Bonehead was eaten but amazingly he survived! Ladybirds were very interested in all of the illustrations and our shiny reader really enjoyed describing them all!

It was Jido’s time to shine in Ladybird class on Friday 23rd May. He presented the traditional tale ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Jido pointed to and named each goat successfully. What a lovely story you have shared, Jido. Well done!

This week our Shiny Reader shared 'Chickens can't see in the dark'. The story is all about a curious chicken who finds out that eating lots of carrots is a good way to help all her friends enjoy the night sky. We enjoyed reading the story at snack time.

Joseph shared his book 'The Disgusting Sandwich' about a very hungry badger who keeps missing his chance to eat a quite nice sandwich. Lots of other animals spoil his meal until the sandwich is too disgusting to eat. Well done, Joseph!

This week, Gracie shared her favourite book 'Fox's Socks'. In the story Fox has lost his clothes all around the house. He finds them in unusual places, including his missing socks in the clock and box. Gracie loves this book because it's so funny and has lots of rhyming words.

It was our time to shine in Ladybird class on Friday 21st March. Our shiny reader presented ‘Geronimo’ by David Walliams. He explained he liked the book because the penguin shouted ‘geronimo’ when he sneezed which made him fly into the sky. Our shiny reader told us this book was his reward for being ‘Reader of the Week’ a few weeks back. He loved showing his peers the illustrations and explained each, one by one. Well done! We cannot wait to have a copy of our own.

In Ladybirds this week our Shiny Reader presented ‘There's No Such Thing As Monsters’. He explained that this book was his favourite due to the characters in the story which remind him of The Three Bears within the Goldilocks fairytale. Our shiny reader enjoyed flicking through the illustrations, describing the other characters and settings. Brilliant work! We look forward to having a copy of our own for the reading area.

It was Aisha’s time to shine in Ladybird class on Friday 21st February. Aisha presented ‘Princess and the Shoe’. She described the characters and settings in much detail before showing us what each looks like within the illustrations. She told us she loves the story because it is based on a princess and that is what she loves to dress up as the most. Finally, Aisha told us how this book was her prize for being ‘Reader of the Week’ a few weeks back. Well done Aisha!

It was Makka’s time to shine in Ladybird class on Friday 14th February. Makka presented ‘Unicorn’ to the class and explained why this was her favourite to read at home. Makka enjoys the part where the mermaid and fairy catch all the diamonds and share them with the other characters. She told us that she had bought the book whilst out shopping with her mam. Well done Makka, we loved hearing all about your book!

It was Colby’s time to shine in Ladybird class on Friday 31st January. Colby presented ‘Hairy Maclary’ to the class and confidently explained why this was his favourite to read at home. He told us that this book was gifted to him by his childminder who had looked after him since he was a baby. Colby went on to explain that he thoroughly enjoys identifying the house numbers within the illustrations and spotting the rhyming words. Well done Colby, we loved hearing all about your book! We cannot wait to have a copy of it in our classroom library.

exploring energy through electricity
This week, Reception have been exploring energy through electricity. We spoke about the items in our homes and classroom which were powder by electricity; there were many! The children then took their knowledge into provision by explore different equipment which are powered by electricity/batteries, as well at non-electrical appliance/resources. The children were brilliant at categorising the items into electrical and non-electrical.
