Patricia Nelson – Recognition of Service Award

image

Patricia was elected to the Governing Body of Framwellgate Moor Primary school in September 1989 and has served the school community for 32 uninterrupted year, playing a significant part in the building of a new school between 2006 and 2009.  More recently her wise counsel has been much appreciated by the school during the COVID pandemic and the many changes and challenges this has brought to a busy primary school.  She was also a Governor at FMPS before joining Brandon.

She served as a parent and then LA Governor.  She has led important committees of the Governing Body including Curriculum and Standards Committee, The Finance Committee and the First Committee.  In all governance activity she has been a consistent and reassuring presence, always bringing common sense and attention to detail to whatever she is involved in.

Her fellow Governors, school staff and Governance professionals cite Pat’s outstanding example of public service as making an invaluable contribution to the school and to the development of governance in the school and beyond.  Pat has mentored new governors and modelled exemplary practice to all.  Her governance has been infused with her very human qualities of kindness, decency and integrity and FMPS and its pupils have benefitted hugely from her contribution.

Pat has served as a governor for over 30 years, during this time she has been on the Governing Body at Sacriston, Brandon Primary Academy and currently serving as a governor at FMPS.  She has held many roles within these governing bodies including chairperson.  Pat’s commitment and dedication to the role has been inspiring.  Pat has always been a staunch advocate and ambassador for the school, working tirelessly to promote FMPS within the local community and local council. Pat was part of the interim governing body which oversaw a highly successful amalgamation and has been instrumental in supporting the Head Teacher, staff and fellow governors in our development in becoming an Outstanding School.  Pat’s support, experience and kindness are characteristics which enable her to be a wonderful governor and for this I am delighted that her work is being recognised with this long service award.
