Everyone has loved playing the recorder this half term. Children have learnt to play the notes B, A and G. They really enjoyed playing the ‘forbidden rhythm’ listening game!

The Gift Of The Nile
Year 5 had a great time developing their skills in Music. We used the Glockenspiels to play the song 'The Gift Of The Nile', working hard to follow the music and notes. Some of our own musicians had a go at playing the tune on their own instrument too. Well done, Year 5!
yEAR 6 mUSIC
Turtles class have throughly enjoyed their music lessons this half term. This week we explored note notelength using percussion instruments, helping us to understand how sounds can be long or short. After practising, the children came together to perform 'The Gift of the Nile' with the class split into three groups (instrumentalists, vocals and a dancers). Together they created a fantastic performance.
Year 5 Music
This half term, our music lessons are inspired by the Egyptians! On Friday, we explored the use of hieroglyphs and how they can represent music. We then used our bodies and voices to represent hieroglyphs- we had great fun doing this!
Christmas music Assembly by the students
mUSIC AWARD
On Thursday 11th July the children performed their music skills to the rest of the school.
Pupils performed on many instruments including the violin, guitar, keyboard, flue and voice.
The children demonstrated their amazing talents and clearly practise hard to be skillful and true musicians.
Leo was awarded the Music Award trophy in recognition of working hard and practising in order to continually improve and grow as a musician.
Well done to all of the children and keep practising! I cannot wait to see and hear your talents again next year.

Our school choir had a fantastic opportunity to sing at the historical Durham Cathedral. The choir have been working hard rehearsing ten chosen songs including 'Bring me sunshine', 'Blue Moon' and 'Here comes the sun'. They sang beautifully infront of a very large audience and they finished with a standing ovation. Miss Robson is very proud of them! Well done Choir!

Year 3/4 Recorder
Orangutans have been enjoying playing the recorder this half-term. They have learnt the notes B, A and G and can play short melodies.
Y5 Durham Cathedral Music Outreach Programme
On Thursday, a group of year 5 pupils participated in the Durham Cathedral Music Outreach programme. They had several practise session in school led by a singing professional leading up to the event.

Y4 Christmas Songs
Pupils from Year 4 attended ‘St Aidan’s Kitchen’ to share the Christmas songs that they have learnt in our local community. The pupils sang beautifully and the community members were delighted to see such energy and enthusiasm whilst the pupils performed.
